Son Rompe Pera

Hailing from Mexico City’s working-class neighbourhoods, the Gama brothers have revived the rich heritage of the marimba, a melodic percussion instrument that has been an icon of their family and culture for generations. Through their musical project Son Rompe Pera, they extend the repertoire of the marimba, traditionally synonymous with folklore, opening it up to the worlds of cumbieros, punk, garage, and urban music, and bringing it firmly into the 21st century.
